BEER in Vietnam: A few words.

Beer in Vietnam is like elsewhere: Long standing and a large social factor. There are a few things that differ from other areas however. Beer is not the preferred drink for social outings like it is in many areas, at least not traditionally as that honor goes to rice liquor. Beer is typically served in a number of ways that would make beer snobs cry. Even in upscale bars that specialize in imported high-end beers don’t have staff that can pour properly (I shudder as I think of what that pretty girl did to my Belgian Ale).

Beer is typically cheap and low-grade. Though there are a number of brewhaus’s, very few have achieved a high level of quality and consistency. In other words, beer is constantly improving in quality and accessibility. The number of beers available here has increased greatly, but its hard to tell where you can find them and how much they will cost. Here is my forum to record the conditions upon which you, the drinker, can find that which you so dearly need.
